what we do
Conservation Investigations provides expertise in conservation, wildlife & environmental investigation and research. We correctly apply the use of professional research and investigation techniques to detect environmental and wildlife crime, gathering evidence and documentation which we compile into thorough reports. These reports are then used to allow compliance & enforcement response, legal prosecution, or campaign work to proceed on the basis of 100% accurate evidence and information. This in turn allows for the successful delivery of wildlife, conservation, and environmental protection on the ground.
Our expertise includes terrestrial and marine field investigation; remote monitoring; surveillance & visual documentation; scientific sampling & evidence collection; chain of custody identification and documentation; background research; offender profiling & identification; compliance & response; reporting; case file preparation; and environmental prosecution.
Conservation Investigations was founded in 2014. It is lead by Martin Stanley, who until 2013 was the Senior Auckland Area Compliance Officer and a Warranted Conservation Officer for over five and a half years with the Department of Conservation in New Zealand. During this time he conducted over a 100 investigations with numerous successful criminal prosecutions, and court diversions for environmental and wildlife offences delivered for the New Zealand Department of Conservation. Prior to his time with the New Zealand government he worked for over seven years in environmental research and investigation for non governmental organisations around the world, providing the evidence and guidance for many successful environmental and wildlife campaigns.
